After all these years, the handset manufacturers around the world have finally began to look at China market as a place full of opportunities for smart devices. Firstly that Apple has eventually come to an agreement with Unicom for China market, followed the news that China Mobile wasn’t really given up on the iPhone deal and there’s still possibilities that CMCC will be selling iPhone as well.
Then there’s RIM and China Telecom’s annoucement of bringing more affordable Blackberry plans for individual users, instead of the ridiculously priced corporate plans with CMCC.
And yet we have another news for RIM, a mass Blackberry distribution plan has been made between RIM and Digital China, in which Digital China will be distributing Blackberry handsets in the China market for RIM, while previously they’re only legitimately accessible through CMCC.
And this time RIM seems to be determined to spread out the fruity taste of Blackberry much wider in China market, to a wider audience with more reasonable pricing plan.
It is not a surprise that smart phone manufacturers all around the world now turning to look at china, with the effort of China government and three competing mobile operators, China has achieved a good number of over 5 million 3G users in less than half a year, and we’re expecting a faster growth next year, which makes China a great market to roll out smart devices that can take full advantage of the wireless data highway.
But noted that in the 5 million 3G users, 4 million are TD-SCDMA users from China Mobile; this isn’t exactly the same 3G network as in Europe or US. But RIM is smart to notice that. That’s why an extended agreement has been made with China Mobile that RIM will be delivering Blackberries for TD-SCDMA connections.
